A Squirrel & His Acorn

Looking out the window, I saw a cute, furry squirrel digging deep into the snow with determination. 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches, 4 inches down with only a trace of his tail sticking out. He finally resurfaces, climbs up the fence line, leaps onto a low hanging tree branch and sits… there in his mouth is an acorn!!! I couldn’t believe it!… how did this lil’ stinker find an acorn that was not only buried in the ground from last Fall but compacted by layers of snow? After finishing his meal, he proceeded to find 2 more acorns in two different spots… Amazing!!!
Ahhh, the simple pleasures of life :)

It also reminds me of God’s promise to us, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink… look at the birds of the air (in this case a squirrel), for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?... For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”               Matthew 6:25-34

What a great reminder that we do not have to worry about the circumstances that face us today or even those that may be there tomorrow – God is our ultimate provider and will sustain us… all we need to do is put our TRUST in Him … now that’s good news!!!
